SOURCD

Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-09-02

These Terms govern your use of Sourcd (the “Service”), a platform for discovering and sharing music made by people, by AI, or by both. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. The Service

Sourcd lets you upload audio, link to media hosted elsewhere, rate and favourite tracks, build playlists, and follow artists. New uploads enter a sandbox and surface through community activity. Sourcd does not judge or label how music was made — any note about process is written by the maker and shown at their choice.

The Service is provided free of charge. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 13 (or the minimum digital-consent age where you live).
  • You're responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials safe.
  • One person or entity per account unless we agree otherwise.

3. Your content

“Your Content” means anything you upload, link, or post — audio, cover art, artist and track metadata, disclosure notes, playlists, and comments.

You represent and warrant that, for all of Your Content:

  • you own it or have all rights, licences, and permissions needed to upload it and grant the licence below;
  • it does not infringe any copyright, trademark, publicity, privacy, or other right;
  • where AI tools were used, you had the right to use those tools and their outputs for this purpose, including any rights in training data and voice or likeness models;
  • it is not unlawful, defamatory, hateful, harassing, or deceptive, and any samples or interpolations are cleared.

You keep ownership of Your Content. You grant Sourcd a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, transcode, stream, display, and distribute Your Content solely to operate and promote the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups or already shared with others.

Directly-licensable music only. Sourcd does not carry blanket licences from any performing-rights organisation or collecting society (e.g. PRS, ASCAP, BMI, SOCAN, GEMA, SACEM). You may upload a recording only if you are free to licence both it and its underlying composition to Sourcd directly. If you or a co-writer is a member of such a society, or the work is otherwise administered by one, do not upload it. We may remove any content and disable uploads for any artist we believe is society-administered, and you remain responsible for any royalties claimed in connection with Your Content.

4. Linked media, support links, and tips

When you add a link (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, or a direct file), Sourcd does not copy or re-host that media; it is played from its source and remains subject to that platform's terms. You must have the right to point to it.

An artist may display a “support” link to their own external tip or crowdfunding page. Any payment happens entirely on that third-party service between you and the artist — Sourcd does not process it, hold funds, take a fee, or endorse the recipient, and is not responsible for it.

Tips. Sourcd may offer an in-app way to tip an artist. Tips are processed by Stripe and paid directly into the artist's own connected Stripe account; Sourcd does not take custody of the funds and is not the seller or merchant of record for the tip. Stripe's terms and the artist's Stripe obligations apply to the artist's account. Sourcd may retain a stated percentage of a tip as a platform fee, shown before you confirm. A tip is a voluntary gift, not a purchase, and confers no licence, ownership, refund right, or other entitlement. Requests for a refund are between you, the artist, and Stripe; chargebacks and disputes are handled through Stripe. The artist — not Sourcd — is responsible for any tax on tips they receive. Sourcd may withhold, reverse, or disable tipping for fraud, abuse, or legal reasons.

5. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • upload or link content you don't have the rights to;
  • impersonate a person or act, or misrepresent affiliation;
  • manipulate ratings, plays, or follows, or use bots and automated scraping;
  • upload malware, or attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service;
  • harass other users or post illegal content.

6. Moderation and enforcement

We may review, remove, or restrict content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or the law, with or without notice. Tracks may be removed from discovery or deleted; accounts may be banned. We are not obligated to monitor content but may act on reports.

7. Copyright

We respond to valid copyright notices under the DMCA and terminate repeat infringers. See our Copyright / DMCA page to file a notice or counter-notice.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that content is accurate or lawful.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sourcd and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed USD 100.

10. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold harmless Sourcd from claims arising out of Your Content or your breach of these Terms.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date; continued use after changes means you accept them.

12. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and Sourcd agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Pennsylvania for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. Nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection laws of the place where you live.
